FORMER UN WEAPONS INSPECTOR SCOTT RITTER LEADS NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON HOW TO DEAL WITH IRAN
What: Real Intelligence with Scott Ritter and Elizabeth de la Vega
When: Thursday, July 31, 2008 7:00-9:00 PM
Where: Knight Auditorium, Barnstable High School, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA
Join former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter and former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega for a lively, indispensable discussion about the "War on Terror" and Iran in the crosshairs. Find out why Ritter, who visited Iran on a fact-finding mission, commented, "We are seeing history repeat itself."
Ritter, who famously and accurately argued that Iraq no longer had weapons of mass destruction, recommends diplomatic engagement with Iran, and supports local and national efforts to pass resolutions urging President Bush to refrain from ordering any military attack against Iran without explicit Congressional authorization.
In an interview with Amy Goodman broadcast on April 28, 2008, Ritter stated: "There is no doubt in my mind that the United States is planning right now, as we speak, a military strike against Iran." The former weapons inspector warns that such an attack is unnecessary, and if launched, could provoke a massive response with catastrophic consequences to millions of people, including Americans.
Ritter's credibility is difficult to dismiss. As Seymour Hersh puts it: "The most important thing to know about Scott Ritter is that he was right."
The admission charge is $10 in advance, and $15 at the door. A book signing will immediately follow the event. This event is co-sponsored by U.S. Tour of Duty and Cape Codders for Peace and Justice. For more information and advance tickets visit http:www.realintelligence.org or call 800.838.3006.
